Sammi Whytecap is a contemporary folk singer-songwriter who combines her passion for music with 35 years as a social worker. Inspired by personal experiences as well as her counseling work, she has recorded 7 albums of original music on the Jasmine Journey Records label. Sammi released her debut album in 1982 and has continued to write, sing, and record songs that promote unity, empowerment, and hope. "Illumination," her most recent CD, highlights 10 original songs that invite her listeners into new possibilities of support, compassion, and resiliency.

Since 1984, Sammi has been singing professionally in a wide variety of venues. Her performances have been featured at national conferences, trainings, workshops, retreats, schools, bookstores, community events, hospitals & hospices, coffeehouses, places of worship, and social service agencies. Sammi's rich vocals, soulful lyrics, and soothing guitar create an atmosphere of comfort, connectedness, and inspiration.

Born and raised in the Kansas City area, Sammi moved to Phoenix in 1973 to attain a Master's degree in Social Work at Arizona State University. Her enthusiasm for singing and songwriting, coupled with her training and experience as a social worker, have been a powerful combination. Sammi's music has been like a river winding through a career that has included 15 years counseling urban high school students, 12 years working with a Native American educational program, and 4 years with a suicide prevention center. This rewarding work has provided heartfelt inspiration for new songs and a continuing commitment to positive social change.
